The Church Music Major provides training for students interested in careers in church worship and music leadership. Church Music majors have the option of choosing a traditional or integrative applied track.  Students choosing the integrative applied track take three semesters of commercial lessons in their principal applied area in addition to seven semesters of classical lessons. This integrative track gives students the broadest training available for a variety of worship cultures – from contemporary to traditional and multi-cultural worship settings. Innovative leaders of church music and worship in the Greater Nashville area often serve as guest lecturers. Private lessons in the traditional track are all classical.  Church Music Majors perform in School of Music Ensembles, area churches, and give a 25-minute recital during their senior year.

Instruments of study within the Bachelor of Music in Church Music are: Voice, Viola, Violin, Cello, Classical Bass, Harp, Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Euphonium, Tuba, Percussion, Organ, Piano, and Guitar.
