The Watkins College of Art at Belmont Scholarship

After the merger between Belmont University and the independent Watkins College of Art, the net funds from the sale of the previous campus created an endowment to provide scholarships for visual arts students in Belmont’s Watkins College of Art. The Watkins College of Art at Belmont Scholarship Endowment will be used exclusively to provide need and merit-based (portfolio) scholarships for students studying the visual arts within the College of Art. The endowed fund is expected to produce more than $800,000 annually for arts scholarships upon maturation.

While submitting a portfolio is not required to be admitted into the College of Art, applicants who intend to pursue a degree in the Watkins College of Art and wish to be considered for the Watkins College of Art merit-based scholarship must submit a portfolio of work in art and/or design to the College of Art.

Need-based scholarships will be determined by Office of Student Financial Services and the Office of Admissions. The Office of Student Financial Services includes the Watkins Scholarships to all scholarship recipients in the financial aid award package.

Portfolio Submission Process

Shortly after starting your application to Belmont, you will receive an email with a link to submit a portfolio for consideration for all portfolio-based scholarships. The portfolio should include 20 digital images of your artwork, containing two or more different media to reflect diversity and breadth of experience. Include a numbered checklist corresponding to the images, stating the size, date and medium of each piece, and indicating the correct viewing position. All 3D works should include at least one additional viewpoint.
